You are responsible for your own property, including your intellectual property, which would be your essays. With that said, it is still a responsibility thing. Knowledge, even just of it's own sake, is a good thing and important. I don't know about others, but I DO NOT share that view, and to be fair I don't think ASU as a whole does either. "You're supposed to go and get a degree nobody cares about the knowledge held in individual classes. For the online stuff, ASU would pay a cost per head/access. Virtually everything ASU has is licensed in some way, even if it's just for a support contract. I just want to point out that this isn't true. It costs the school nothing to maintain my access I'm seriously thinking about making any additional course I take publicly available through some sort of backup just because I am so angry. But, I am very passionate about certain subjects and it angers me that I can't retrieve the knowledge that I paid for. You're not going to use most of them anyway and they're just requirements that you have to complete to get a Bachelor's Degree" you say. I understand that my thoughts might seem naïve, especially to adults. Not remembering a class is one thing (I can hardly remember Intro to Statistics myself), but actively denying a person the ability to go back and look at that knowledge is another. It's not about actually learning stuff or retention of knowledge. I know it's obvious, but this just shows to me that they're just offering these classes to tick off arbitrary requirements that they made to get a degree. I'm not buying an education I am renting classes to buy an overpriced degree. I have referenced past classes I've taken multiple times when researching or stuff like that. This might be a bit of a hot take, but I think if I paid for the course, I should have indefinite access to it. Digital learning and in-person have many differences it costs the school nothing to maintain my access. It's not been five months and they've decided that I've apparently dropped out or something and that I should no longer should have access to the courses which I paid for (ASUPD takes care of tuition but all other fees and stuff like textbooks are my responsibility). I made sure my login was correct and everything, but even the Canvas button on my ASU dashboard was missing. A couple days ago, I tried logging into Canvas to download some essays of mine that I had neglected to download and it says that it can't find a user by my name. The last time I took a course using this was in Session A of the Spring Semester. Due to my school's affiliations with the greater ASU university, I am able to attend up to two college classes a semester instead of the corresponding class at my high school. I am a high school student currently attending ASU Preparatory Academy online. Maybe Debian’s problem is the gap between Debian Developers and users, and all the obstacles you need to pass in order to become a DD. There used to be a forum at, but it seems to be dead. IIRC, wasn’t started by Canonical or any core member of Ubuntu, but by some random Ubuntu user. I don’t think the lack of a web forum is Debian’s largest problem. Ubuntu would continue no matter what Canonical decides to do: – Debian is beeing 0wned because it lacks all of the above. – The secret of Ubuntus sucess is markting, smart package selection, great web framework. – Debian could 0wn, instead being 0wned by Ubuntu. – Ubuntu kicks ass, but Freedom is a price to high to pay. Would it be so hard to restructure the whole damn website and implement a forum? I’s outrageous how a project so relevant such as debian, that on top of all is a comunitary project and as sutch depends on a top notch web interface and information extchange among the various elementens of the said project, the comuniy, has been working for so long with sutch an indadequate and outdated back end. Shure Ubuntu has its credits to, the comunity is vibrant and well organized around a centralized oficial forum and compensive wiki.ĭebain’s single biggest problem is IMHO organic. I fear that the day will come when Debian is “dead” from the lack of userbase and a caring comunity, and if that day day actualy comes Canonical will have all the freedom in the world to turn Ubuntu into “Something Better” by forcing wierd-unholy-drm-eula like stuff down the Joe “Uncaring” User throat. Ubuntu on the other hand will be around for as long as there’s money to pay developers. It never crossed my mind before reading this guy’s blog entry (that i realy didn’t agree with anyway but that would be another post alltogether) of the implications of a user migrantion from Debian to Ubuntu, beacause Debian is a comunitary distro, without volunteer work it stagnates and “dies”. I haven’t actualy read the thing but I shure as hell dont like the idea of selling out Freedom for a buck, so to speek. You know, I think the question that’s yet to be awsered is if Canonical will be ditching the Debian Social Contract in the long run and turn Ubuntu into a commecial distro mutch like Red Hat. Ubuntu is not so much a fork of Debian as it is a fork of the Debian Project–a much more successful fork. Debian will never go away, but Ubuntu will drive the project. In the back of Mark’s mind, I think he expects that eventually, most of the contribution to Debian will come from Ubuntu. He knew that fixing the problems with Debian would pay off eventually. The only explanation is that, as a skilled investor, he saw tremendous value in Debian that wasn’t being realized effectively. I don’t think that he could have expected the kind of success that Ubuntu has had, and even still he doesn’t plan on seeing any net return on investment for several more years. Mark’s investment in Ubuntu had long odds at best. That’s where the money entered the equation. He realized that reforming the Debian project from the inside was futile, that a whole new project was necessary. When Mark took a look at the state of the Linux ecosystem, it was plainly obvious that Debian needed new leadership, a new release management procedure, and a vibrant community. Unfortunately, the project leadership, release management, and community has consistently prevented Debian from achieving its primary goal of being the universal Linux distribution. It was obvious, and it had been more quite some time:įor over a decade, Debian has been the most capable, extensive, and stable of the free Linux distributions. He didn’t need to spend money figuring out what people wanted. 2. Ingenuity Smartclean Booster Seat With 3-Point Harness, 1 Count. For example, Ubuntu enables periodic TRIM by default, Debian does not recommend using continuous TRIM and Red Hat recommends using periodic TRIM over using continuous TRIM if feasible. Continuous TRIM is not the most preferred way to issue TRIM commands among the Linux community. Note: If you want to use TRIM, use either periodic TRIM or continuous TRIM. Without the NVMe DEALLOCATE, SAS UNMAP or ATA_TRIM command (supported by most SSDs), the disk controller takes more time to do a write operation as soon as there is no empty memory blocks, as it has to shuffle data around to erase a cell before writing to it (see Wikipedia:Write amplification): a TechSpot benchmark shows the performance impact before and after filling an SSD with data. Since the flash cells they are made of are worn out a little with each write operation, the disk controllers use algorithms to share the write operations on all the cells: this process is called wear leveling. Which peripheral's support is still missing?Ī: Every peripheral card for the Apple II line ever made. Back in the day, everyone I knew with an Apple II/+ got all those cards for their machines as soon as they became available, so why not include the options for them in AppleWin?! We still need a way to emulate other real hardware (and/or peripheral card) setups in AppleWin! It would be nice if there were options to set up the older mode machines as 64K or 128K machines with either the opposite language card, an 80-column card (also missing), an extended 80-column card (missing also), or a >64K RAM card (e.g., RamFactor/RamWorks), like the Apple IIe modes have. ProSel hangs or boots slot 6 next depending on which mode you use. Most of the other SYS files return you to it, or tell you why they don't work on an Apple II/+. John Brooks Bitsy Bye, QUIT.SYSTEM followed by BOOT.SYSTEM (BB renamed), works well for the older Apple II/+ modes. Most of the *.SYSTEM files in my list either want to run on an Apple IIe or on a 128K machine. The problem boils down to the fact that the Apple II (original) and Apple II Plus modes on AppleWin are 64K, and not 128K, machines. It flashes something on the screen just before everything hangs. It is probably the NS.CLOCK.SYSTEM file that is not working with the A2/A2+ modes. System files, down the road in the boot process, may be the culprit. I replaced (copied over) ProDOS and Basic.System and ProSel.System (And, maybe more I don't remember for sure.) with backups/originals from the disk images they originally came from, but it had no effect and did not eliminate the problem. I just noticed this recently while analyzing the original Apple II System Monitor and the Apple II Plus Monitor II using AppleWin 1.27.0.0 and comparing them to what is printed in my reference manuals. When you're experiencing nausea or indigestion, your stomach is in a vulnerable state, so the last thing you want to do is overwhelm it. "Don't wait more than two to four hours before eating something small to prevent the 'empty stomach' feeling." Of course, you'll want to be mindful of what you eat to keep nausea at bay, and that's where our recommendations come in-whether your stomach already feels uneasy or you're trying to keep it from happening, you have many remedies at hand that can help you stay settled. "The only thing I would say about, particularly if dealing with pregnancy-related morning sickness, would be not waiting too long to eat," Swiner tells us. Nausea makes the idea of eating seem unappealing, but making sure you have regular meals and snacks can actually be key to preventing it, especially if you're experiencing it frequently. If you're experiencing frequent nausea and aren't sure why, reach out to your doctor so they can help you nail down the cause and figure out how to feel better. Factors that cause nausea may include (but aren't limited to) food sensitivities, food poisoning, disruptions in routine, medical conditions, anxiety, viruses, overeating, or pregnancy. Nausea and other digestive issues can have various causes, but usually, it boils down to "the stomach feeling 'empty' or any food intolerance that causes a change in gut motility (movement)," says family physician C. The Sonos Ray that I’ve been using for a few months now doesn’t lack a punch of its own but there’s not denying it could use a little more oomph. The Sub Mini pairs wirelessly with your soundbar or speakers and you pretty much never have to worry about connecting them again. Setup via the Sonos app on iOS and Android is as straightforward as expected from a Sonos device.Īll you need is a plug for power (anywhere in the room) and you’re good to go. It is cylindrical in shape and disappears pretty neatly in the background and doesn’t really steal the focus. I won’t be surprised if they venture into video at some point, but because they’ve been singularly bent on perfecting the home audio experience, the product is just darn near perfect. The speaker measures 23cm across and is 30.5cm tall. What I like about Sonos, though, is their pure focus on music-based products. There’s a lot of competition there, and coming from companies with serious consumer chops, most notable Apple, Google, and Amazon. With their new soundbar, it’ll be interesting to see how Sonos fares in the battle for the living room. But it sure is nice to see the feature come to Sonos. Sure, it’s not rocket science – others have offered this for quite some time. The other much appreciated addition 4.0 is not only the new Android widget (nice) which is available on the home screen (nice), but also the new Sonos now playing icon located in the Android Jelly Bean pull-down notification bar: A new Sonos widget can be accessed on the homescreen, the lock screen, or, as seen here, in the notifications bar on Android Jelly Bean. Sonos now supports Amazon Cloud Player (Bellissimo!)įirst Look: Sonos Play:5 wireless music system You can see in the above photo a mix of Pandora, Songza, Internet Radio, Amazon cloud, and locally stored music – all available with just one click (or tap). “Sonos Favorites” improves this dramatically by creating a universal inbox of sorts for all your favorite stuff, regardless of service provider: Sonos Favorites: like a universal inbox, with the Sonos Controller 4.0 update, all your favorites can be added to one list, regardless of service provider. Or for Internet Radio, I’d need to navigate to Radio first, then click again to locate favorites. In short, it’s an audio dream come true.Īlready a steadfast user of Pandora and Sky.fm, I’ve also come to appreciate newer, hand-curated music offerings such as Songza ( simply brilliant) which queue up tunes based on your mood and/or time of day.īefore this update, however, accessing my “favorites” was a bit of a pain, because each service was treated separately So if I wanted to find, say, my favorite Pandora stations I’d need to navigate via the Sonos app to the Pandora section first. The bedroom, like most of the home, already has in-ceiling speakers, but the addition of the Sonos speaker adds oomph, with tremendous bass performance. I then added a Sonos Play:5 to the office, and another to the bedroom. I had these hardwired when the home was being built- each has individual volume control. I’ve got a Sonos Connect hooked up via a honkin’ Onkyo TX-NR809 receiver (and an Integra amp for more power) to my whole home audio system which consists of 6 pairs of speakers both inside and outside the home. I’ve been using the system for whole home audio for just over a year, and could not be more pleased. For the complete change log see the Sonos site here. With the 4.0 controller update made available yesterday (check iTunes, Google Play Store, or just check for update from within the app itself) Sonos has added two things I’ve come to already appreciate greatly: universal (“Sonos”) favorites, and a now playing widget on the Jelly Bean pull-down notification screen. Sonos continues to refine its class-leading music software. |
